Instructor Availability:
As a full-time Instructor, I have a Campus Office (O1-116) with regularly scheduled office hours and I can also schedule appointments upon request. Office and Lab hours are published on my web site. I can also work with students virtually/online over the Internet. This type of help session must be scheduled via email. Class On Line Materials:

All class materials (syllabus, assignment schedule, etc.) will be available in BlackBoard. You will be required to monitor BlackBoard and specifically the Course Announcements page on a daily basis. Object-Oriented Programming Fundamentals
Structured and Object-Oriented design and logic tools. Use of computer problems to demonstrate and teach concepts using an appropriate programming language. Prerequisites: CIS105 or permission of instructor.

General Course Information

Class Format – Classes will be using the BlackBoard course management tool to distribute written lessons, tests, quizzes, discussion and assignments. Lab exercises will be done outside of class on your own in the GCC Computer Lab or at home if you have the appropriate software. We will meet on the GCC Main campus five times during the semester in B106 from 7-9 pm. The exact days of these sessions can be found in the CIS150AB Course schedule. Optional study group sessions will also be available and published in the course schedule.

Grades - Grades are based on accumulative points. You earn points through tests (5), activities (quizzes and discussion), and 10 lab assignments. The grading scale is as follows: Grading Rubric Tests 5 Tests (Multiple Choice / Short Answer) Points Test 1 (100 points) Lessons 1-3 Test 2 (100 points) Lessons 4-7 Test 3 (100 points) Lessons. 8-10 Test 4 (100 points) Lessons 11-13 Comprehensive Final (100 pts) @ GCC 500 Assignments 10 Labs @ 10 points each 100 Class Weekly Summaries 15 @ 5 pts per wk 75 Weekly Discussion 15 @ 5 pts. each 75 Total Points 750 A = 90 - 100% of total points
B = 80 - 89% of total points
C = 70 - 79% of total points
D = 60 - 69% of total points

To receive an A you must have taken all tests and turned in all Assignments.



Tests – There are four tests that each covers approximately one quarter of class material. Each test is worth 100 points. The comprehensive final exam (100 points) will test all class material and be taken on the GCC campus. Tests will consist of multiple choice and true – false questions administered in Bb. Study Aids – Study Guides – Links and our resources for this class will be available in BlackBoard.

Audio Taping: Audio taping is allowed only with Instructors permission.
